Abstract

This report aims to show that, despite El Salvador’s small size, it is possible to find species that have not been reported or are unknown to science. Therefore, this country is worthy of consideration for research on its fauna and flora, whether agricultural pests or beneficial organisms. A parasitoid species of Lasioderma serricorne (Coleoptera: Anobiidae) is reported for El Salvador, found by chance in a bag of nixtamalized flour infested with L. serricorne, which was placed inside a mesh cage to recover adults of that species during the 2020 pandemic in a residential area in the municipality of Mejicanos, San Salvador, at 700 m above sea level. The parasitoid was identified using keys for the genera of Pteromalidae and a key for the species; however, a specialist was consulted, who corroborated the validity of the identification, facilitating the detection of A. quinarius.
