Abstract

This investigation shows the process of design and construction of an energy efficiency ratio (EER) meter for window air conditioners and mini-split units. The instrument performs measurements of current and voltage for power calculation, as well as temperature and relative humidity of the air conditioner. In addition to provide specific measurements, it has the ability to store data in a SD card, which allows to calculate the average of the measurements. The full meter was designed using free software and hardware, emphasizing on the costs reduction in its elaboration.
