Abstract

For this study the wing variation of specimens of Anartia Fatima from urban and rural populations was assesed. A total of 17 landmarks were digitized using the program tpsDig. To evaluate wing shape variation, the software MorphoJ was used. The results have shown small but significant differences between urban and rural populations of Anartia fatima. Though with some overlap, the analyses revealed a separation between the two populations, indicating both similarities and variations in wing morphology. Asymmetry levels were also analyzed, revealing low directional asymmetry in both populations, meaning there is no consistent pattern of laterality in wing structure. Additionally, fluctuating asymmetry in wing shape was detected in both populations, suggesting random variations in bilateral symmetry. Based on the results, we conclude that rural and urban populations of Anartia fatima exhibit slight morphological differences in wing shape. These variations may be linked to specific environmental factors of each habitat. Although the differences are not substantial, they preliminarily suggest that habitat plays a vital role in shaping the wing structure of this species.
